I had to upgrade from my romulator to an ostrich because my laptop died and my new one only had a USB port.
I've managed to upload to the ostrich in nistune but when it is plugged into the ecu, the car is alway in limp mode (aux fan & check engine light on).
I'm tring to tune a Z32 and an R32.... Ostric 2.0 drivers are installed and the switches are on 28. This is correct yes? There were no instructions included when I purchased it.

Check the switch on the Ostrich 2.0 is set to 28 pin (and not 32). Otherwise the ECU will read the wrong bank of 32K memory from the unit
Are there any problems doing an upload to the unit at all? If you download what you have previously uploaded, does it download the same as previously uploaded?
There is a utility called 'emutility' you can test uploads out on if you think it is a NIStune configuarion issue. That program should be included on the CDROM supplied with your emulator or download from

I've got the ostrich switches to 28/32 & 28.
Uploading and Downloading is fine although when dowloading the binary file that I just uploaded then previewing it, the maps are slightly different.
What the?
I'll test out the emutility now....
Any other suggestions?

As suspected, the emulator to file verification didn't work...
Code: Select all
Detecting Hardware...
Found: Ostrich II USB v20.9.O
Writing 0x8000 bytes from file address 0x00 to emulator address 0x8000 (Backfill)...
SUCCESS: Operation completed...
Verifying 0x8000 bytes from emulator RAM...
FAILURE: Buffers do NOT match! 8034 bytes different. Operation completed
Any ideas? Have I been given a dead emulator?

What is the reported Vendor ID from NIStune when you first connect?(check the status bar at bottom of screen after connecting)
It should be Vendor ID = 0. Any other number wont work. There is a Vendor ID = 6 for Honda users which another user had
If it isn't then CTRL-SHIFT-V resets the vendor ID in the emulator (using the latest version)
See fourth post regarding this:
viewtopic.php?t=492
If that doesnt work then I suggest contacting Craig and showing him the emutility error since that shouldnt happen

Nah version number is fine. That is the 'default'
Send an email to craig from moates with the results you posted here from emutility
Also try this with the emulator not connected to the ECU just to isolate the issue to the emulator
